Interactive Conservation Lesson with Moscow Charter School Students

Conservation Awareness Days

Every May we coordinate and host an all-day field trip for 5th and 6th graders in Latah County. Teachers bring their classes to Spring Valley Reservoir and spend the day visiting different stations where they investigate many aspects of conservation and natural resource management.

Volunteers from different agencies and professions share their experience and knowledge with the students in a hands-on setting.

Art and Conservation

Latah SWCD  worked with Moscow Charter School Students in 2019 to participate in the annual ArtWalk in downtown Moscow.  Students participated in a classroom conservation lesson and then created conservation based art to show at ArtWalk.

Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps

Latah SWCD  worked with Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps for a week during the summer of 2020.  The youth crew helped build BDA's, water plants, and weed noxious weeds at one of our wetland restoration sites.  They were a great crew and a lot of fun to work with! Thanks again for your help Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps!
